A Glimpse: 5

Last week, myself and three friends from the ranch I used to work at, headed to the barn to visit Mr. JingleBellRock. All three of them rode him, and aside from a couple times where he thought to himself, "No, I don't want to move anymore", and one incident of "trot fast means lope silly!", he did really well. I love watching other people ride my horse, he is just such a cutie pants!

Horse pals, :)

Sipping on a beer, lounging on my pony.

Jingle has a bit of a snooki-puff going on in this photo

Then, the other night, I headed out to ride baby-boy in a sidepull again, he did very well. His stops are definitely lacking, but they're coming.

"Mom, you dare leave my blanket off for less than 48 hours? Well, I will show you how fuzzy I can get AND how dirty I can get"
The life of owning a paint...

"I am da cutest boy, I know I am"

The drive out to my barn is pretty spectacular, probably the last no-snow shot of the season.

A Glimpse: 5

Things that make Jingle happy:
- grain after a ride
- big long grooming sessions, featuring coconut oil and big mane and tail rubs
- people watching (he makes me laugh, he acts skittish when someone enters a room, his big white "expressive" eyes start going all sorts of crazy, and he kind of dances around, but you can tell all the while he likes it - my boy is a creep!)

Things that make me happy:
- the way my boy just seems to "get" things so quickly - I had some pretty good backs and stops today!
- the way he'll prance around behind me when I have a grain bucket, he never gets too close for a whack, but he'll deek around from one side of me to another like a little monkey
- How he's getting more comfortable about being left alone in the tack-up area
- How happy he seems at the new barn
- Him, god, I love him.

A Glimpse: 4

I was invited out to a friend's family ranch for branding and vaccinations! However, I was at a wedding most of the weekend but got the chance to pop out to finally see the place today. As always, when in the countryside, I am reminded daily how exceptionally lucky I am to live in a place as beautiful as Alberta.

Can you see her baby's beak right under her chin?!

A friend checking out a previous tenants "sculptures"

Take a look at that view! Breath-taking.

In... less beautiful... news
This is my poor, poor GMC Jimmy. I was rear-ended on Wednesday on my way home from work (to then go to my other job). I was pretty much stopped in traffic, and I watched the guy smash into me in my rear-view. Scary to say the least. My entire back hatch shattered, and the right side of the truck is compressed in as well. I haven't heard back from the insurance company yet.. but since my little Jimmy was a 1998, I'm thinking it's going to be a write off. Sigh.

So now I find myself unexpectedly car-shopping. I'm driving the most drool-worthy 2012 GMC Sierra SLT rental truck right now. Of course, something like that is nowhere near my measly budget. However, I'm thinking along the lines of a 4 door truck... I'm really liking bombing around in this bad boy. Any truck suggestions for me?

A Glimpse: 3

Barn Life:

Jäger does not like having his bridle-path trimmed...

but he does like his mama

especially when she gives him stud muffins AND lickits.
Best horse-cookie day, EVER.

Blog - meet Caron & Jäger! Caron is also the owner of Quiz, and lurks this blog enough that I placed her photos up without permission, because I'm a spectacular friend.

A Glimpse: 2

This week's "glimpse" into the life is going to be words only.

I didn't realize you were waiting on my call. I had left you a note my last shift.
This is a little bit of a glimpse of me standing up to the big bad wolf (of sorts... atleast in some of my nightmares lately). I was a pretty precocious little kid, I could talk my way out of anything. When you're on an even playing field, like the jungle gym, that generally means you win the fight. Except for if you get punched, and in my younger years I managed to out-wit, and sneak around that aspect of middle school as well. As an adult, you learn about a whole different ballgame of bullies, and meany-pants, and sometimes the big bad boogie man is hiding in the dark, but sometimes he's right infront of you, acting like your good friend, or mentor... All of a sudden the rules are drastically different and unique to every situation on how you deal with this style of villian.
Now, we just have to wait and see if the big bad wolf does the right thing, and doesn't blow my house down.

"So, you're going a little stir crazy, huh? Ya sure, you can come out."
Words that make my heart hurt from happiness. This sunday I get to go home and have some alone time with my favourite sky.

I'll send Quiz's splint boots out with her
My lesson was cancelled monday due to snow, so I get to go out tonight, that means some Quizzy time! :) I feel like I haven't rode in years, hopefully my lesson doesn't turn into a complete wreck - i'm talking about me by the way, not the ever-fantastic Quiz.

Me: "Well I sent her a message full of niceities so I could get an answer out of her..."
Them: "Do you think this is how Louisa keeps us around? Just so she has some friends."

Athough this last quote may seem negative, it reflects on three wonderful, amazing people I have in my life and how their humour, support and love have picked me up so many times in the last 4 years. Marley, Brig, Laur, I know you creepers read this blog, I love y'all.
I know, I know, this blog has been one big bag of emotion lately. But what can ya do?!

A Glimpse: 1

a little glimpse into my life lately...

Little Miss Quiz in an XL cooler after a sweaty ride today... isn't she the cutest?!

A piece of an email I received yesterday, very bittersweet.
